National Tsunami Warning Centre (CENALT)

The French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), in partnership with the Navy's Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service (SHOM) and the National Scientific Research Centre (CNRS), has been ordered by the French Ministry of Ecology, Energy, Sustainable Development and the Sea (MEEDDM) and the Ministry of the Interior, Overseas Territories and Territorial Communities (MIOMCT) to create and run a national tsunami warning centre in France.

The system will be set up within the project for a regional tsunami alert centre for the Northeast Atlantic and West Mediterranean: CRATANEM project (September 2009 - December 2013).

Five new tidal stations in the Mediterranean

The project includes a tide gauging component, with the installation of five new permanent tide gauges in the Mediterranean by SHOM, and the ability to transmit real-time data to the RONIM sea level monitoring network in mainland France. The five new tide stations are:
