4th Workshop on Coastal Altimetry and OST-ST Meeting on Altimetry for Oceans and Hydrology
The international research community working on the development of coastal zone altimetry and its applications is meeting at Porto (Portugal) on 14 and 15 October next for the 4th Workshop on coastal altimetry, organised by the Faculty of Sciences of the Universityof Porto.
The objective of this Workshop is to gather together research workers studying altimetry by satellite applied to coastal zones in order to discuss a wide range of subjects, notably from data processing through to new applications.
A specific theme will deal with inter-comparison methods between altimetry and tidegauges. This session will include presentations on inter-comparison methods and various experiments in different parts of the world, and the combined use of altimetry and tide gauge measurements in situ in different applications.
This 4th Workshop on coastal altimetry will be held just before the OST-ST meeting "Altimetry for Oceans and Hydrology" which will take place from 18 to 20 October at Lisbon.
The symposium on "altimetry for oceans and hydrology" is organised jointly by Eumetsat and CNES. It aims to assess recent achievements and to examine current challenges as well as future needs. Altimetry for oceans and hydrology will have three individual events:
The "Ocean Surface Topography Science Team" (OST-ST) meeting on 18-20 October;
A special meeting entitled "towards high resolution of ocean dynamics and earth surface waters from space,
And the workshop "International Doris Service" (IDS), on 21 and 22 October.
