Installation of a new tide gauge in New-Caledonia on the island of Lifou

The Lifou tide gauge was installed in August 2011 on the East coast of the island in order to contribute to monitoring the risk of tsunamis in the Pacific. Its installation was financed by the DéGéOM (general overseas delegation), the government of New Caledonia and SHOM. The tide gauge is installed in the Bay of Chateaubriand, in the marina of the town of Wé.
