SHOMAR Software - 2012-2013
The SHOMAR software allows tidal predictions for about 1080 sites all ove the wolrd, including:
- about 150 along the coast of mainland France
- about 45 along the coasts of the French overseas territories.
This version of the SHOMAR - 2012-2013 Edition software allows tidal predictions not exceeding this expiring date 31/12/2013. In order to make predictions beyond this date, a new version of this software containing up-to-date data must be acquired.
These tide predictions are calculated from observations of sea levels recorded by tide gauges installed along the coasts. In the context of tide gauge measurements, tidal predictions provide an aid to validation of the measurements collected by tide gauges and also make it possible to calculate observed positive and negative surges. Analysis of positive and negative surges in relation to atmospheric pressure, for example or to neighbouring tide gauges then makes it possible, for example, to detect any jumps or peaks in the measurement.
